Northern Banya in the Mountains Above Sofia

Private sessions & Social Fridays · 20 minutes from the city center
What is “Banya na Dache”?
A small, private, family-run banya for people who prefer a more personal experience.

There are no crowds and no fixed spa routine. Each session is guided by the steam master and adapted to the people who are there.

The banya is built around steam, contrast and rest — warming up gradually, cooling down, and taking time between rounds.
Our Approach
Simple, private and personal.
Simple Things
Wood fire, oak veniki, cold water, strong black tea from the samovar, honey, bread and apples.
Nothing elaborate. Everything has a purpose.
Close to Nature
The banya sits on the slope of Vitosha, overlooking the valley.
Forest, mountain air, changing weather and quiet are part of the experience.
Made with Care
We keep the groups small and guide every session personally.
There is no standard intensity or fixed rhythm — we pay attention to how people feel and adjust as we go.

What to Expect
First of all, a holistic experience.
Fire and ice work together here: deep heat, sharp cold, and deliberate contrast. After the steam session, you step outside—into the open air, on a mountain slope, surrounded by forest. You stand, breathe, cool down.
This combination resets you on a deep level. The body relaxes, the head clears, and you feel genuinely refreshed—not pampered, but renewed.
Warm-Up & Tuning In
Light steam, natural aromas, gentle fan work, and a calm shared tuning-in.
The body warms gradually and prepares for the main steaming.
Main Part
Classic Russian steaming with oak venik, optional contrasts, and a cold plunge.
Circulation activates, the body “wakes up”.
Massage & Scrub (on request)
Muscle recovery and skin care.
Natural scrub, hands-on massage, and venik work.
Tension releases, deep relaxation settles in.
Final Warm-Up & Rest
A soft closing of the bathhouse ritual.
Final steam, tea by the samovar, and rest.
The body is warm, breathing is steady, the mind is calm.

  • Petro’s Sauna is easily the best in Bulgaria. I’ve been to many saunas in Finland and Estonia, and this one is just as good as the top ones there. The humidity and heat always feel perfect. I’m glad I found a place where I feel a real connection with nature and can relax. Since discovering it, I’ve been coming back again and again.

It helps me rest and reset. I’m happy that a place like this now exists in Sofia. Definitely give it a try.
